Apothecary Cabinets + Rustic Kitchen Charm

The Apothecary Cabinet:
So many of us are in love with these old apothecary drawers, or we try to imitate the style in our new construction and design. I am not sure I get the Why of this attraction, but I've got it bad...
I mean, on a practical note, who is able to remember what is in each of those tiny drawers?
Some apothecary drawers are more or less something like 6 down  by 6 across = 36 drawers!
For me, the solution is to keep the look of many small drawers, which  actually cover no more than one or two larger, more usable storage space drawers.
These are some great examples:

It's a look that everyone wants to have or to emulate. Today's "apothecary"
is the Pharmacist. Hmm...I wonder if we should all gout and stalk pharmacies and other medical dispensaries for more cool design ideas!

Have a great day!

SOFA / COUCH COMMUNICATIONS

Make a statement, say something, with the choice of sofa/couch.

Antique Swedish sofa.
The lesson:
"Antique" is not necessarily a synonym for "in good taste".

Comfort, sophistication:

The communication issue raised when choosing a sofa isn't too serious unless the message it sends bothers those that have to live with it.Anyway, whatever you "say" with your sofa can be changed with fabric, paint, a throw, and/or  pillows!

So have a Very good day!

Mirrors with Rounded or Arched Tops

You have seen theses mirrors. Irresistable.
The mirror-as-headboard , below, is  a gold  arched-top antique.
It would look great in any room. But if you can't have that,
the rounded top gold mirrors are lovely:

same mirror as above,, different angle:

And the Lovely alternatives:

Call it French, Country, Traditional, European,
Rustic...the gold frame, the antiqued look, is a winner.

Have a great Day!

Always Appealing: Cottage Details

Cottages are easy to love.
The design guidelines call for a relaxed, perhaps weathered, and historied beauty.
This includes antiques, flea market finds, bead-board, weathered items, simple curtains,
relaxed lines, unusual finds, and  whimsical items.
These rooms have the Right Cottage Touch~

Oyster Shell Chandelier:

Braided rug:

I hope you enjoyed this little jaunt through cottage-y images. It is such a friendly, do-able style...
Have a great day!
