Repins: Rhyme or Reason?

Do you know Pinterest
It is highly addictive, extremely easy to use, and so much fun!

I haven't figured out why some of my absolute DREAM favorites get ignored while others that I find to be simply nice are wildly popular. Figuring out what Other people might like is a science that hurts my brain to think about. So I'll just show you what people are really liking:

I get repins on these first two every single day

Anyone who repins this  finds that it gets more and more repins...viral.

And then  certain Bedrooms seem popular--

"Now THAT is Industrial"

Re-purpose those old bottles!

And now I must continue my addiction to pinning....
All images were, of course, via my Pinterest boards.
I pin a LOT, so there is LOTS to see. There is some amazing stuff...check it out!

Calm + Happy: Rooms that Give You a Lift

Here are rooms that stay calm while also managing  to boost your spirits a bit with design that focuses less on bright, stimulating colors and more on contrast, materials, lighting, and balance.

The handles on the backs of those stools are a great touch:

All of these rooms give a real lift in spirit.
That last room's wallpaper is gorgeous, don't you think?

May your spirits be bright!

So many bedrooms, so little time....

Last week I focused on Bedroom-As-Sleeping-Room. Not today. Today is all about love.
These are few of my favorites, of great bedrooms that are not ALL over the internet ( I hope)...
I can never decide on one favorite style, because any style is great when...when it is great. Ha!
So here are a few of my 10 gazillion favorites. I hope they prove to be interesting,
inspirational, and /or a nice relaxing look-see for you.

I think that cat hates that "bed"
via
This first one is in Switzerland and I found it in Interiors Magazine
an online magazine full of interesting stuff.  (You knew that.)
Anyway, obviously, I  loved the bedroom...
the detail / craftsmanship of this home is Amazing:

The Best!
I absolutely adore and want this bedroom by Richard Shapiro:

                                                             Classic, simple, beautiful:

From a favorite blog, Style Beat, a bed of very cool fabrics:

This one is striking but not overdone, and a tad different:

Orange and green again ...This one below has a freer feel
to it which is also Really nice. That cool green wallpaper and
the colorful rug make this room:

This unusual piece of leather nailed up so casually is kind of great!
And, uh, if you know the source to this, please advise! I lost the link probably
 a couple of months ago...
< Do you know this child-room? >

I like to read in bed, so I'd add a light source, but this is just lovely --  Serene.

A perfect guest room.

This bedroom has an artistic romance about it. The placement
of the pendants and the use of three is inspired!
via
The larger the image, the better this gorgeous, stylish room gets.
 It's really so Smartly done:

Check out the details of this terrific room:  tv on ceiling, desk fitting over bed, etc:
via

I love the thatched roof! What a dreamy retreat:

OK, I lied -- I know this here is an oldie.
And it HAS made the rounds... But what a goodie:
via
I absolutely love this, but I do not have the discipline
to refrain from adding colors that would ruin the effect.
via

I might be able to sleep here one night. Maybe two.
But then I'd go crazy.
I think this intense, red-orange room would be great for a teenage boy.
via

This is just a beauty.
via
Have a great day, a great evening, etc !
And --  if you please --let me, Miss New-to-Blogging-Land, know what you think!

A Gorgeous Night's Sleep

One of my favorite blogs,Wartime Housewife, (link) is a  friendly, chatty, and very honest series of interesting and/or hilarious anecdotes and discussions.( British Erma Bombeck?) Anyway, the other day, she was talking about Naps, daytime fatigue, etc.  That got me to thinking about the design side of the matter --  since sleeping usually happens in Bedrooms!

via
  •  The environment that should support any attempt to promote good sleep..
  •  Beauty of design is what makes walking into the bedroom a pleasure, and allows one to feel good at the end of the day.
  • A  really great quality mattress and the best bedding, of course.
  • And studies of lighting effects indicate the need for many of us to make some important adjustments.

Sleep-cycle related lighting needs are sometimes lacking even in the work of the very best. I mean, these gorgeous, amazing bedrooms!

Maybe the people who actually live in those rooms don't need the lighting because they are on their electronic devices before finally falling asleep.

Or maybe they secretly bring in flashlights or those mini lights sold at Barnes and Noble so they can read in bed... In which case, is there a convenient side table  or something where they keep the book, the glasses,or whatever?

I am PICKY about these things. Like when I see something like this!

Nice! :

We are all advised to get as much sun (or full-spectrum light) as possible by day, and as little light as possible by night, to set a good sleep cycle, etc etc etc.   Also,  I've just been reading about .....
A NEW, " worst thing we can do  before bed."  That would be looking at all of those back-lit electronic devices --  especially the  iPads , but also the  Kindles, computers, TV's,  etc. right before bed. The lighting can be keeping us awake. Reading a book or magazine is a great alternative, and that's where the soft, focused light comes in.

It's hard to stop!  Really, now I WILL go to sleep...

This bed is being used in the living room, which is quite nice. I would love naps here:
